About Eco coir Cluster

Eco Coir Cluster India Private Limited is a coir Cluster formulated under the scheme SFURTI of Coir Board, Ministry of MSME, Government of India. It is based in Pollachi, the South Indian city known for its coconut troves, from the State of Tamilnadu. It is promoted by the pioneers of coir industry who have more than three decades of experience in the coir field.

The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV),consists of around 50 coir entrepreneurs. They manufacture coir fibre, coir pith, coir yarn, curled coir and other allied coir products.

The SPV is headed by Sri Palanisamy Gounder, the Chairman, Sri K Nagarajan, the Vice Chairman,Sri.P.Vijayakumar,the Managing Director of the Company.

Our Vision

The main activity of Pollachi and its suburbs is agriculture and the main crop grown is coconut. Due to the abundant availability of coconut and consequently the husks, there are more than 500 units engaged in the manufacture of coir fibre and other allied products. They provide employment to thousands of artisans directly and indirectly. The main products manufactured are coir fibre, coir pith and coir two ply yarn. The coir yarn is supplied to Kerala where they are used in the production of value added products namely Coir PVC Tufted mats , Coir matting and Coir Geo-textiles.

The Pollachi region is the coconut hub of the State of Tamil Nadu. The economy of the region mainly depends on the coconut cultivation and the coir industry. In spite of being the major industry of the region, the coir sector has not ventured beyond the manufacturing of coir fibre, two ply yarn and other allied products. Our Vision is to elevate the industry to the next level by introducing Coir PVC Tufting, Coir Matting and Coir Geo-textiles. The manufacturing of these value added products is expected to improve the earnings of the artisans as well.
